Trend Analysis

FreeProEnterprise

Trends enable comparison between two date ranges: the current and the one of the same length immediately preceding it.

Available in: Segmentation, Funnel

Length of the Date Range

If you select a relative date range like Last 7 Days in the date range selector, the current date range would be the Last 7 Days and the previous one would be the 7 days immediately before.

If you select an absolute date range as your current date range, the previous date range will be the same number of days immediately before your chosen absolute date range. For example, if your current date range is January 11-20, your previous date range for comparison will be January 1-10.

How to Analyze with Trends

Click the Trends dropdown and start by selecting On to turn the feature on.

You have two ways to control the Trends Timeframe. This is only available with our Segmentation tool.

  • Period: compare each point to the equivalent point in the preceding period. (ex: A 7 day Daily query would compare today to 8 days ago).
  • Interval: compare each point to the immediately preceding point. (ex: A 7 day Daily query would compare today to yesterday).

You have two ways to control the Trends Format. This is available in both Segmentation and Funnel.

  • Absolute Change: will provide the numerical difference between the values of the corresponding two periods.
  • Percent Change: will provide a percentage difference between the values of the corresponding two periods.

Comparison between two full ranges

In addition, you will also see the comparisons between the entire current date range to the previous one on all charts (except the table). Also, you can toggle where the Trends pop-up appears on your screen by clicking the arrow:

Dashboard Funnel Widgets

For your dashboard widgets created from a Funnel query with Trends turned on, you will see the comparisons next to the Total Conversion Rate, the Average Conversion Time, and in the table below the visualization.

Note: When saving the Funnel to a Dashboard, widgets that contain the funnel chart will not reflect the trend analysis. Average Conversion Time, Total Conversion Rate, and the Funnel Table will display the comparison information.

Trends displaying ‘-’

Sometimes you see a dash ‘-’ in the change column (represented by Δ). That does not necessarily mean that there is no change between the two date ranges but rather, there isn’t enough data for Indicative to provide you with the change. Circumstances that could produce this result include:

  • The data point did not exist in the previous period.
  • The data point did exist in the previous period, but was not among the Top/Bottom breakouts for the previous period.
